September 09, (THEWILL) — Filmmaker and actor, Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele d’Icon, is celebrating a major milestone after his movie series “Koleoso” reached 141.6 million combined views on YouTube.
The 13-part Yoruba supernatural thriller is now being celebrated as the most-viewed African film title on the platform.
Yekini announced the achievement in a statement on Tuesday, describing it as a major moment for Nollywood and African cinema.
“‘Koleoso’ makes history as the most-viewed African movie title on YouTube, with over 140 million combined views across Parts 1-13 – and still counting”, he said.
According to figures released by the filmmaker, Part 1 has recorded 9.8 million views, while Parts 2 and 3 have garnered 9.9 million and 8.9 million, respectively.
Parts 4 and 5 have each recorded 10 million views, while Parts 6, 7 and 8 have each reached 12 million.
Part 9 has 13 million views, while Part 10 leads the series with 16 million. Parts 11, 12 and 13 have recorded 9.9 million, 9.4 million and 8.7 million views, respectively.

The latest milestone comes months after “Koleoso” crossed 100 million cumulative views on YouTube, becoming the first Nollywood and African movie title to reach the mark across multiple parts on a single channel.
The series follows Osogbemi, a ruthless father who believes in the power of dark magic. He trains his three children, Koleoso, Oshobola and Efun, in supernatural powers to protect the family and control their enemies.
As the children grow stronger, rivalry and betrayal begin to threaten the family. Their struggle for power also brings them into conflict with other spiritual forces, setting off a dangerous battle that puts their lives and legacy at risk.
Blending Yoruba cultural elements with supernatural themes and family drama, “Koleoso” explores power, family loyalty and the consequences of inheriting a dark legacy.
The series has attracted viewers in Nigeria and across the diaspora since its release on IteleDIconStudio’s YouTube channel.
Reacting to the milestone, Yekini dedicated the achievement to his fans, cast and crew, thanking them for their contribution to the project’s success.
“Let me take my flowers. This is a win for Nollywood and a source of pride for Africa”, he said.
He also praised everyone involved in the production, describing the achievement as a collective victory.

With its view count still rising, “Koleoso” has further demonstrated the growing reach of YouTube as a distribution platform for Nollywood and Nigerian stories.
