July 30, (THEWILL) – One of the 16 governorship aspirants who contested the primary for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ticket in Anambra State on June 26, 2021, Chief Obiora Okonkwo, has resigned.

Okonkwo, whose resignation is coming ahead of the November 6 governorship election in Anambra State, in a letter of resignation addressed to National Chairman of PDP dated July 24, said his decision was final.

He said he had equally written to his Ward Chairman in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

He listed some of the reasons for his decision as unresolved court cases in the party, adding that the PDP would not give him the platform needed to serve his State.

Though he had not announced the party under which he would contest the November 6 election, reliable sources hinted that the Chairman of the United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) may be heading to the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) to pursue his governorship ambition.
