SAN FRANCISCO, December 03, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari and former President Olusegun Obasanjo have joined world leaders in mourning the passing of former President of United States, George H.W. Bush.

Buhari, in a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and publicity, Femi Adesina, sent condolences to the government and people of the United States, family of the 41st President and all political associates of the great leader, whose legacies continue to inspire and attract encomiums across the world.

The President believed the passing of George H.W. Bush is a loss to the entire world, not just America, especially the many people he inspired.

He extolled the late President’s love for his family and country, which remains legendary as clearly seen in the way his children have taken up leadership roles and are steadily breeding new generation of great thinkers and leaders.

The President prayed for God’s comfort on the mourning nation, the family of the nonagenarian, and a peaceful rest for his soul.

On his part, Obasanjo in a condolence letter, made available by Kehinde Akinyemi, his media aide, said the demise of late Bush is a loss to the entire world.

Obasanjo said the late former president had interest in Nigeria which showed in the special relationship between both countries.

“President Bush’s death is a loss not only to his immediate family and to the United States of America but also to the entire world,” he wrote.

“With the refocused and renewed emphasis on market reforms, political and social accountability, and stronger trade relations, his legacies have continued over the years to shape Africa’s relations with the United States.

“President Bush’s special interest in Nigeria was reflective of the special relations between our two countries. We join you and the American people in mourning the loss of a political giant, an astute administrator, a courageous leader, an erudite international statesman, and a great American hero.

“Though the world would miss him, his legacies would continue to inspire many to reach the highest points of their productive, political and creative abilities. Once again, accept our deep sympathies. May God grant his soul perfect peace and rest.”
