BEVERLY HILLS, June 25, (THEWILL) – World soccer governing body, FIFA, has confirmed that Australia and New Zealand will co-host the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
Both countries were considered as single/joint bid in a unanimous decision reached by the council.
This was after a vote taken by the FIFA Council in the meeting held via videoconference. The result was announced by FIFA President, Gianni Infantino.
THEWILL reports that Brazil and Japan had withdrawn their prior intention to host the event, leaving Colombia and a joint bid from Australia and New Zealand.
