September 02, (THEWILL) — Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has teased a sequel to his Netflix series, “Seven Doors”.
Adebayo disclosed this during a recent appearance on “VJ Adams Live.”
Rather than rushing into the next instalment, Adebayo said he is taking time to study the original series again.
According to him, rewatching his previous work allows him to spot areas that can be improved before beginning another project.
“I watch my movies after they’ve been released, especially when I want to produce another one,” he said.
Adebayo pointed to “Jagun Jagun” and “Ageshinkole” as examples of projects where he used the same approach before working on subsequent productions.
“Now I’m planning to do a sequel to ‘Seven Doors’, so I keep watching the original to do better,” he added.
The filmmaker also considers the reactions of viewers when developing his projects.
He said he makes a point of reading comments about his films, including criticism, because they help him understand what audiences enjoyed and what could have been handled differently.
“I also go to read people’s comments, good or bad, on my movies because it helps me decide what to do better,” he said.
“Seven Doors” was released in December 2024 as a six-part historical drama. The series follows a reluctant king who is forced by an ancient prophecy to take seven wives, setting off intense palace power struggles and supernatural conflicts.
Adebayo played the lead role in the series, which also featured Chioma Chukwuka, Muyiwa Ademola, Adebayo Salami and Jide Kosoko.

The production went on to receive significant recognition at major Nigerian film awards in 2025.
At the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, Adebayo won Best Lead Actor, while Chukwuka took home Best Lead Actress for their performances in the series.
“Seven Doors” also secured four awards at the Best of Nollywood Awards, including Best Series, Best Production Design, Best Special Effect and Best Cinematography.
The awards success has strengthened the series’ place among Adebayo’s notable productions, following his earlier work on projects such as “Jagun Jagun”.
While Adebayo has confirmed that a sequel is being planned, details about the storyline, filming schedule and release date are yet to be announced.
