January 13, (THEWILL) – Delta State University is set to host the National Judo Open Championship in February, with over 30 teams from across the country expected to participate.
The event, organized by the Nigerian Judo Federation (NJF) in collaboration with the University, aims to uncover talents from the grassroots and serve as a selection process for the African qualifiers for the 2024 Olympics.
According to NJF President, Musa Oshodi, the championship will feature categories for juniors, cadets, and seniors, and is a continuation of the federation’s programs from last year.
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and Chairman for the National Judo Open Championship, Prof. Ochuko Nabofa, explained that Delta State University is committed to assisting the country in discovering new talents in the sport, and is ready to host not only the National Judo Open but other sports championships as well.
