September 28, (THEWILL) – Delta-born filmmaker, prolific writer, author and cultural enthusiast, Mrs Esther Wright, has won the Nollywood African Golden Award 2024 in the “Best Producer” category.

The award was presented to Mrs Wright on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Vienna Arena Event Centre in Boji Boji, Owa, in Agbor, Ika area of Delta State.

In her acceptance speech, Mrs Wright thanked the organisers, Nollywood Nigeria Ltd., for the honour, adding that such recognition means the world to her.

Mrs Wright, who was represented by Morgan Michelle Nwamaka (who played a lead role in her yet-to-be-released movie), dedicated the award to her parents.

She said, “This award is dedicated to my late parents, Regina & Dennis Nwogwonuwe. Their love and guidance have always been my inspiration, and I hope I’m making them proud wherever they are

“A huge thank you to the fantastic team behind the Nollywood African Golden Awards 2024. Individually, you guys are the real MVPs!”

“I’m deeply grateful to everyone who believed in me, especially those who supported me financially in making the film. Thank you so much. I also want to thank Chief Norbert Ezenwani, our Diokpa, and Chief Mrs Cordelia Okonta (aka MERIT). Your support is everything to me!”

“To my family, friends, and fans, thank you for standing by me every step of the way. Your love and encouragement keep me going, and I couldn’t have achieved this without your unwavering support. I love you, my husband, JD Wright, for being my rock. I couldn’t do it without you!” Wright stated.

The ace filmmaker also used the opportunity to thank the cast and crew of her yet-to-be-released movie, for their roles and support.

“To all the participants of the Nollywood African Golden Awards 2024, you inspire me daily with your talent and dedication. Let’s keep cheering each other on!” Wright said.

Nollywood African Golden Award was put together by Mr Percy Monday Edoki, the President of CEFO Movies Production and the Chairman of Ika Movies Practitioners (IMP).

It is geared towards showcasing excellence in Nollywood by rewarding unique contributors to the creative industry. This year’s edition was supported by Sonia Akpatason, Ika Etumuse, Ichie Waterworks Limited, and Nellix Foundation, amongst others.

Anthony Awunor, is a business correspondent who holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Linguistics (UNILAG). He is also an alumnus of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria Kaduna State. He lives in Lagos.
