BEVERLY HILLS, April 11, (THEWILL) – The 20th National Sports Festival (NSF) currently underway in Benin City, tagged Edo2020, was into Day 10 on Sunday and the athletes continued to demonstrate the competitive edge to outdo one another to the winning podium and the medal honours.

Many of them who had endured the series of postponements the fiesta faced could not wait to get their events started and were immediately off to victories the moment the whistle was blown or the GO signal was given, with a frenzied rush to the finish. An example of that is record-setting Team Bayelsa swimmer Ifiaezibe Gbagbe, who won 15 medals, eight of which were gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze.

In the events of Day 10, Men’s high jump final results saw David Aya of Team Delta jump to gold, Oyedele Cyprian of Team Lagos took silver while fan favourite, Mike Edwards, former Big Brother Nigeria contestant, of Team Rivers went home with the bronze.

The leading Team from Delta State added to their every-growing haul of medals when Chidi Okezie won gold in the Men’s 400m with a personal best record of 45.60s, dusting Emmanuel Ojeli of Team Lagos to silver and the third member of the “terrific trio,” Sikiru Adeyemi, had the consolation of snatching bronze in 46.51s.

The wheelchair tennis event final honours went to Kemi Oluwasegun of Team Rivers after her hard-fought three-setter victory added a gold medal to the Rivers State collection so far, which left Kafayat Omisore of Team Delta with the silver.

Earlier on, at the medals presentation for the three categories of the male rugby event, the 7’s, 10’s and 15’s the following teams were on the podium to claim their medals accordingly:
