August 16, (THEWILL) — Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has celebrated the re-election of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The singer reacted on X on Sunday after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner of the governorship election.
In a video shared with his message, Davido was seen lying on the floor in excitement as he celebrated the result with members of his team. His aide, Israel DMW, was also heard congratulating him.
“We did it Unc,” Davido wrote.
Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, secured 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All-Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 444,815 votes.
The governor won in 19 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured 11.
The result gives Adeleke another four-year term after he was first elected governor of Osun State in 2022.
Davido played an active role in his uncle’s campaign, attending rallies, mobilising voters and using his social media platforms to rally support for Adeleke.

He also called on international agencies to monitor the election process, stressing the need for a peaceful and credible poll.
The singer remained confident in his uncle’s chances throughout the campaign, regularly sharing messages in his support.
Following Adeleke’s victory, Davido celebrated alongside his team, turning the result into a personal family moment.
