September 7, (THEWILL) – Nigerian Premier League club, Bendel Insurance, have refuted claims that their young defender, Benjamin Taminu, is set to join Spanish fourth division side, Lleida Esportiu.
In a statement, the club said the reports are “completely false and misleading” and urged fans to disregard them. The 21-year-old Taminu has been at the centre of transfer speculation linking him with a move to Europe. However, Bendel Insurance were adamant the player remains part of their squad and is training ahead of their September 16 CAF Confederation Cup second qualifying round clash against RS Berkane.
While not ruling out a future transfer, the club confirmed Taminu is still under contract and that any negotiations would be handled by his agent. For now, the focus remains on his development on the pitch. Taminu has caught the attention of scouts across Europe after some assured displays at the heart of the Bendel defence.
With his contract expiring next summer, a transfer abroad seems likely at some point. But Bendel Insurance were keen to end speculation about an imminent move. Taminu continues his daily training regime with his teammates, with no offer received yet from Lleida Esportiu or any other suitor.
