May 10, (THEWILL) – Bavarian giants Bayern Munich have reportedly agreed to sign Ajax duo Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui this summer.
Both players have played regularly for Erik ten Hag’s side this season, guiding De Godenzonen to within a few points of the Eredivisie title after also registering a perfect record in the season’s UEFA Champions League group stage.
The double agreement has been in the works for a while and by last month discussions were at an advanced stage with the representatives of the pair and Bayern officials.
The 10-time Bundesliga champions have finally completed both transactions. Mazraoui, who had been linked with a move to Barcelona earlier this season, has agreed to join the club on a free transfer at the end of the season.
It is a double blow for the Catalan side, who had hoped to move right-back Sergino Dest to the Bavarian giants. All that scheming seems improbable with this revelation that Bayern will be the beneficiary of a summer move.
Meanwhile, the failure of the two clubs to agree on a cost for Gravenberch was delaying the agreement. Bayern had hoped to sign him for roughly €25 million, but despite Ajax’s request for €30 million, Die Roten got their wish.
The move should be made public soon. But, there is more worrying news for Ajax.
Gravenberch and Mazraoui are not the only players who will be departing Amsterdam this summer. Jurrien Timber is also garnering attention, with Ten Hag reportedly interested in bringing the young defender to Manchester United when he moves to Old Trafford.
