September 18, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich produced a devastating attacking performance on Friday night as they dismantled Union Berlin 7-0 at the Allianz Arena, with Michael Olise stealing the spotlight after scoring a hat-trick in a one-sided Bundesliga encounter.
The victory saw Bayern temporarily move to the top of the Bundesliga table with 10 points from their opening four matches, while Union were left with little to show for an evening in which Vincent Kompany’s side repeatedly exposed gaps in their defence.
Although Harry Kane’s historic Bundesliga milestone provided one of the night’s headline moments, the overall performance belonged to Bayern’s attack, with Olise proving particularly influential throughout the contest.
Musiala sets Bayern on their way
Bayern needed only 18 minutes to take control.
Jamal Musiala opened the scoring with a superb strike from around 20 yards after Alphonso Davies helped create the opening from the left. The Germany international’s effort gave Union goalkeeper Frederik Rønnow little chance as Bayern immediately established their dominance.
The home side continued to control possession and territory, with Union struggling to cope with the movement of Bayern’s forwards.
Their pressure produced a second goal in the 39th minute when Olise was brought down inside the penalty area by Tom Rothe.
Kane stepped up and converted the resulting penalty, sending the ball into the corner to reach 100 Bundesliga goals in just 98 appearances. The England captain subsequently added another in the second half, taking his Bundesliga tally to 101.
Olise takes centre stage
Just four minutes after Kane’s penalty, Olise produced his first goal of the evening.
The French winger cut inside before wrapping his left foot around the ball from outside the area, finding the net to give Bayern a commanding 3-0 advantage before the interval.
Olise’s influence continued after half-time and he quickly became the defining figure of the match.
Kane headed in his second goal in the 54th minute after meeting an excellent Olise delivery, but the Frenchman soon reclaimed centre stage.

Ismael Saibari added Bayern’s fifth in the 70th minute, scoring his first goal for the club since joining from PSV during the summer.
Olise then completed his hat-trick with two goals in the space of three minutes.
His second of the night came after he rounded Rønnow and finished against the post, before he produced arguably the goal of the evening with another superb left-footed strike from distance in the 76th minute.
Bayern’s attack sends warning
The emphatic victory represented a major statement from Bayern after a less convincing spell in their previous Bundesliga matches.
The defending champions had been held to a goalless draw by Schalke before edging past newly promoted Elversberg 2-1, but there was little sign of those difficulties against Union.
From the opening whistle, Bayern played with intensity and attacked with the kind of freedom that has become characteristic of Kompany’s team.
Olise’s performance was particularly encouraging. His three goals and involvement in Kane’s second goal highlighted the attacking options available to Bayern, while Musiala also marked his return to the starting lineup with an important contribution.
For Union Berlin, the night quickly became one to forget.
They were unable to contain Bayern’s movement, struggled to create meaningful opportunities and eventually conceded seven goals without reply.
Bayern, meanwhile, left the Allianz Arena with three points, seven goals and renewed momentum as their title defence gathers pace.
And while Kane’s record-breaking century will dominate much of the post-match discussion, Olise’s hat-trick and Bayern’s collective attacking display provided the clearest statement from Friday night’s extraordinary 7-0 victory.
