March 19, (THEWILL) – Arsenal produced a much-improved display to earn a 4-1 victory over winless and manager-less Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, at the Emirates.
The result extends Arsenal’s lead at the top of the Premier League to eight points going into the international break, with ten games left to play. Palace, in their first game since Patrick Vieira’s sacking as manager, showed early promise but ultimately succumbed to Arsenal’s relentless attacking play.
Arsenal’s opening goal came from Gabriel Martinelli, who used his speed to beat Joel Ward and fire a left-footed effort past Palace’s teenage goalkeeper. Bukayo Saka added a second just before halftime, with Granit Xhaka and Saka scoring Arsenal’s other two goals. Palace managed to pull one back through Jeffrey Schlupp, but Arsenal quickly responded with Saka’s second of the day to seal the victory.
Arsenal’s victory marks an impressive achievement, with the team already matching the points tally they achieved in the entire previous season. Meanwhile, Palace continues their search for a new manager and a win, having now gone 12 matches without a victory in 2023.
Arsenal will look to continue their winning ways when they host Leeds United on April 1, after the international break, while Palace will face Leicester City at Selhurst Park on the same day.
