Adamawa, Bayelsa, Osun, Eight Others Yet to Get Ministers

July 27, (THEWILL) – The 28 ministerial nominees President Bola Tinubu sent to the Senate for clearance on Thursday was the first batch in a comprehensive list that should comprise names from the 36 states of the federation as stipulated in section 143 (1) of the 1999 Constitution.

According to the Constitutional provision, ” the president shall appoint at least one minister from each state who shall be an indigene of such state.”

Tinubu today sent the first batch confirming our report on July 16, 2023, (President Tinubu To Announce Ministerial Nominees In Batches ) where we reported his intention to send the names in batches to beat the July 28th deadline because he was still struggling with choices across some states.

A run through the list shows that a total of 11 states are yet to get their share, while states like Bauchi, Cross River and Katsina each has two ministerial nominees in the first batch read in plenary by President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio on Thursday.

The states yet to make the list of ministerial nominees are Adamawa, Lagos, Yobe, Zamfara, Bayelsa, Gombe, Kano, Kebbi, Plateau Kogi and Osun.

The current list shows the following 28 ministerial nominees and their states of origin.
