September 03, (THEWILL) — The cause of death of Tim Curry, the legendary actor known for ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ and ‘It’, has been revealed.
According to documents from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health obtained by PEOPLE, Curry died from coronary artery disease.
A history of stroke and kidney cancer was also listed as contributing conditions, but neither was identified as the underlying cause of death.
Curry died on August 25, 2026, at his home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles. He was 80. His manager confirmed that he died peacefully.
The documents also state that no surgery was performed for his coronary artery disease, kidney cancer, or history of stroke.
Curry had faced serious health problems for more than a decade.
He suffered a major stroke in 2012, which left him with lasting mobility problems and eventually required him to use a wheelchair.

Despite the setback, Curry continued working, particularly as a voice actor.
He had voiced iconic characters including Hexxus in ‘FernGully: The Last Rainforest’ and Nigel Thornberry in ‘The Wild Thornberrys’. After his stroke, he voiced Chancellor Palpatine and Darth Sidious in ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ from 2012 to 2014.

He later became known for roles including Pennywise in ‘It’, Wadsworth in ‘Clue’, Darkness in ‘Legend’ and Long John Silver in ‘Muppet Treasure Island’.
He also enjoyed a successful stage career, earning three Tony Award nominations and two Olivier Award nominations.
He won a Daytime Emmy for voicing Captain Hook in ‘Peter Pan and the Pirates’.
