January 27, (THEWILL) – The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, has suffered another round of devastation and depletion, as 207 members abandoned it and pitched tent with the opposition PDP, during its town hall meeting with stakeholders of the Party ahead of the general elections.
Receiving the decampees on behalf of the Party, the Chairman of the PDP in the State, Hon Chris Hassan, described the entrants as “men of wisdom”, who have returned to the Party at a time Plateau State has resolved to restore the State to the political leadership of the PDP.
Addressing the stakeholders during the town hall engagement, the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, said the vision of a new Plateau is already in the atmosphere, and the “time is now” for this vision to be actualised.
Describing the ruling APC literally as a “commercial company of two directors operating basically on the principle of ‘chopping in turns’, Mutfwang told participants in the meeting that it is wasteful to review the tenure of the APC because there is nothing in development terms to be reviewed.
Mutfwang, who called for forgiveness and tolerance from those nursing grudges, especially as part of the fallout from the Party primaries, got the runner-up for the Pengana State Constituency in Bassa local government area to accept the responsibility of being the campaign director general of the candidate, Mrs Happiness Akawu, who has replaced her husband, who passed away recently as the candidate for Pengana State Constituency.
In his own remarks, the director general of the Atiku/Mutfwang campaign council, Letep Dabang, said he is confident of the capacity of Caleb Mutfwang to lead Plateau State and restore its impoverished socioeconomic status, and called on the people of Bassa to vote en masse for the PDP because it’s candidates for all the elective offices have the credentials to deliver quality governance.
