August 13, (THEWILL) — The Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government and Political Leader of Uyo Local Government Area, Prince Enobong Uwah, has said Governor Umo Eno’s projects, appointments and opportunities for Uyo residents will translate into bigger votes for him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Uwah made the declaration yesterday, Wednesday, while addressing political stakeholders and leaders from Uyo at his residence, where he urged them to sustain their support for the administration.
According to the SSG, the governor has given Uyo reasons to support his administration, noting that the local government occupies a central position in the affairs of the state.
“Uyo stands at the core of this government. Things are better with Uyo now than in the past. He deserves to be supported by Uyo people”, Uwah said.
He said the administration’s interventions in infrastructure, appointments and other areas had created opportunities for people from Uyo, urging stakeholders to consolidate the gains rather than allow internal political activities to distract them.
Uwah appealed to party members to remain focused and united ahead of 2027, particularly warning against early campaigns for the chairmanship of Uyo Local Government Area.
He said such activities were premature and could distract the incumbent chairman from executing his mandate.
The SSG also disclosed plans to hold separate engagements with youths and women in Uyo, saying the meetings would provide opportunities to address their concerns and communicate further initiatives of the administration.
He commended the Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Dr Uwemedimo Udo, for his performance, saying he had received reports on projects and initiatives being implemented by the council.

Uwah expressed confidence that Uyo would also support Senator Aniekan Bassey, Hon. Mark Essiet and Hon. Uwemedimo Asuquo in the 2027 elections.
Earlier, the Local Government Chairman, Uwemedimo Udo, who is also the State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), commended the SSG for bringing Uyo stakeholders together and called for continued cooperation among political leaders.
Udo disclosed that more than 20,000 new voters had been added to the electoral register in Uyo following the recent voter registration exercise.
He said the development reflected the participation of residents in the electoral process and urged stakeholders to sustain political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
The council chairman also commended Governor Eno for projects executed across the state and appointments given to people from Uyo, saying the interventions demonstrated the administration’s attention to the interests of the local government.
Former Chairman of the Local Government and Civil Service Commission, Hon. Monday Eyo, also urged party members to remain committed to Governor Eno and other APC candidates.
Eyo cited the Uyo Village Road project in his community as one of the infrastructure projects executed by the administration.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Anieti Udofia; Chairman of the Uyo Capital City Development Authority, Hon. Anietie Eka; Delivery Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh; Dean of Permanent Secretaries, Mrs Uduak Eyo Ansa; aides to the governor, councillors, supervisors and other political stakeholders.
