The Commissioner for Internal Security and Waterways, Brig. Gen. Koko Essien (rtd.), disclosed this on yesterday, during a ministerial press briefing at Government House, Uyo, where he outlined security interventions under Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda.

The Akwa Ibom Police Command has warned its personnel against extortion, abuse of authority and the unauthorised circulation of sensitive official information on social media, threatening disciplinary action against officers whose conduct undermines public confidence in the Force.

The fifth Agribusiness Roundtable International Conference scheduled to hold in Akwa Ibom State from October 25 to 28 has secured endorsements from two federal ministries, with representatives of key United Nations agencies expected to join government officials to discuss strategies for strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural value chains.

The suspects were arrested on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at about 5pm during an intelligence-led operation targeting suspected cultists’ hideouts and identified black spots in Atia Coastal Village.

The Akwa Ibom Police Command says it has arrested a 26-year-old suspected armed robber and recovered two locally made pistols, a cartridge and two machetes during an intelligence-led operation in Ifa Atai community, as the police intensify efforts to curb violent crime in the state.

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has announced plans to commission the Oron Marine City in December 2026, alongside the acquisition of two ferries to strengthen coastal transportation and position the community as a major maritime and commercial hub.

The Akwa Ibom State Government say it has commenced the process of sourcing preferred bidders for the proposed Ibom Deep Seaport, a flagship maritime and industrial development projected to generate more than 300,000 direct and indirect jobs between 2027 and 2050.

The organisation also called on the Federal Government and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to review corps members’ deployment policies and strengthen security arrangements to prevent avoidable deaths during national service.
