December 24, (THEWILL) – Wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Dr Martha Udom Emmanuel, on Thursday took out time to visit and celebrate with the women of Uyo Senatorial District Woman Forum (USDWF) giving out food items and cash gifts to all female participants in the spirit of Christmas.
The first lady expressed the season’ s gesture during the December edition of the USDWF monthly meeting which took place at the Mini Sport Stadium, West Itam 11, Itu Local Government Area.
Speaking at the event, the mother of four said that such a forum gives women an ample opportunity to take out time to relax, celebrate themselves and take stock of their lives, endeavours and achievements.
“It gives me joy when I see the women happy like this, don’t take issues of life too seriously because you will always have issues that need your attention. Always take out time to celebrate yourself. It calms the nerves and reduces blood pressure.
“I want to really thank the men of Uyo Senatorial District for the support and show of love to your wives. I’m so proud of my brother Mr James Iniama aka (Dangote) and his wife for their huge support to the women.” She noted.
The first lady was meticulous in ensuring equal distribution of the Christmas gift items and cash gifts to the women from the nine local Government Areas that make up the Senatorial District.
THEWILL reports that National Assembly members, State Assembly members, Local Government Chairmen, Commissioners, Captain of Industries from the Senatorial District were on hand at the event to show solidarity to the Governor’s wife and to donate in support of the women’s event.
Speaking while making his donation as the highest donor, a front line Governorship hopeful, Estate Surveyor James Iniama harped on unity, calling on the women to be intentional about building unity as it can take the group to an enviable height.
“I want to urge you to be intentional about promoting unity among the women, there is so much power pregnant in unity and if you are intentional about it, it will take us to where we are going.” Iniama stressed.
Setting the tone for the event earlier, the President of the forum Rt. Hon. Ekaete Ebong Okon expressed appreciation to the wife of the Governor for responding to the women’s invitation within a very short notice.
She noted that the number of females in the present administration in the state, both in elective and appointive capacities was unprecedented, saying it was born out of her desire to ensure that the women are given due recognition in governance.
She assured Mrs Emmanuel of the women’s unflinching support to her husband’s completion agenda and succession plan as 2023 approaches.
Among those who attended the event were: the chairman of Itu Local Government Areas, Rt. Hon. Etetim Onuk, Rt. Hon. Henry Archiving, member representing Itu Federal Constituency, Hon KufreAbasi Edidem, Member representing Itu State Constituency, Mr. Akan Okon, Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Mr. James Iniama, CEO James Iniama Consult among other Local Government Chairmen, House of Assembly members and other very important personalities within Uyo Senatorial District.
