SAN FRANCISCO, September 21, (THEWILL) – Godwin Erhahon has attributed the defeat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday’s gubernatorial election to the “dictatorial” character of the former National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole
In a statement in Benin-City on Monday, the former Edo State Publicity Secretary of the APC said that Benin people were “fed up of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole dictating to them politically.”
According to Erhahon, majority of those who attempted to resist Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s imposition of Obaseki on the party in 2016 felt it would be foolish of them to allow the “same Oshiomhole to use them to remove Obaseki who he first hailed” as a superman. “The Benins who are the majority in the state didn’t want Oshiomhole to continue to lord it over them politically. Many resolved to bury Oshiomhole politically”, he added.
He further said that the APC Campaign Council was entrusted to sycophants and mercenaries. Some of the past and present political office holders who “believe that they must lead the party at every level alienated credible grassroots mobilezers from the campaign because they don’t want anyone else to shine. I warned our candidate two weeks ago that we were losing ground”.
Erhahon, however, congratulated Governor Godwin Obaseki on his victory and the APC governorship candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu for his gallant effort. He said that he was very proud that he won his unit and ward, saying that, “I have no regrets working against Governor Obaseki as I believe he can’t change from his bad manners.
Similarly, another chieftain of the ruling APC, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, on Monday attributed the party’s defeat to what he called “the unpleasant carriage and incoherent disposition” of the former National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole. He said Oshiomhole must apologise to the President and members of the APC for “the serial embarrassments and heavy damages occasioned by his quirky carriage.”
Eze congratulated Obaseki and commended the Edo people for ending godfatherism in the state.

The APC stalwart counselled the candidate of the APC, Pastor Ize-Iyamu, to prevail on Oshiomhole to offset all his electoral expenses. “It was his damaging campaign against him as well as his poor leadership mannerisms that caused him and the APC the election”, he added.
