September 26, (THEWILL) – Media mogul and boss of EbonyLife and Films, Mosunmola Abudu, fondly referred to as Mo, is currently in the eye of the storm. Barely two weeks after she threw a party to mark her 57th birthday and the birth of a new Thai restaurant christened Jinja, the movie producer is fighting to keep her reputation from falling apart.
Mo, who is a mother of two, is being accused of several infractions, ranging from alleged intimate relationships with two state governors (a former and serving one) from one of the south west states for contracts and outright refusal to execute the contracts even after collecting money for that purpose, to allegedly bedding a former bank chief who approved loans in the billion-naira range for her for the take-off of her EbonyLife TV, which she never serviced. Her actions reportedly put in jeopardy, the jobs of the politicians and the bank chief. She has also been accused of destroying her friendship with a socialite, who was once married to a politician who recently defected to the ruling party.
Mo allegedly stole an idea from her erstwhile friend who trusted her with a proposal. She reportedly repackaged the proposal, sold it as her idea and got it approved for execution by a former governor of the south west state, thus preventing her friend from reaping the fruit of her labour. Unfortunately, the contract never got executed despite money released for it.
Also she is being accused of having an amorous relationship with a serving minister who allegedly bankrolled the building of her humongous edifice, EbonyLife Place, as well as netting other high net-worth individuals. Going by the allegations too many to mention, that were carefully packaged and sent for publication to a social media platform, one begins to wonder whose toes Mo must have stepped on to warrant the opening of these cans of worms. Why do people have to be overly suspicious of a successful woman who struggles to reach the peak of her career? Why does the success of a woman have to be linked with her getting things done through sexual favours? Why isn’t this notion ever attributed to successful men?
THEWILL reliably gathered that Mo is pointing accusing fingers at some close friends, with whom she is no longer on speaking terms, as those responsible for her ordeal. Recall that last week, THEWILL reported a falling out with one of her best friends and how all efforts by their mutual friends to reconcile them proved abortive. An obviously distraught Mo has shut her social media page, which has always been open and served as an avenue to showcase her works as a film maker and media entrepreneur. This is hoping that she survives this dark period and with time, prove naysayers peddling these allegations wrong.
