August 27, (THEWILL) – West Ham United have signed Ghana striker, Mohammed Kudus, from Ajax Amsterdam on a five-year contract, both clubs confirmed on Sunday.
The deal is reported to be worth an initial €43 million, with additional variables that could increase the fee. The 23-year-old Kudus arrives in London after making 87 appearances over three seasons with Ajax, scoring 27 goals. At the Dutch club he won two Eredivisie titles and the KNVB Cup.
Kudus has also earned 24 caps for Ghana, featuring in all three group matches at last year’s World Cup. The forward will look to make an immediate impact for West Ham, who have drawn with Bournemouth and beaten Chelsea and Brighton this English Premier League season.
His versatility in attack will give manager David Moyes added options up front. The signing of Kudus marks West Ham’s third major addition of the summer transfer window. They have already brought in defender Edson Alvarez from Ajax and midfielder James Ward-Prowse from Southampton.
Securing Kudus’ services represents a significant coup for West Ham as they look to improve upon last season’s 14th place finish in the EPL. His combination of youth and experience will bring energy to the attack as the club pushes for a top six spot.
