November 06, (THEWILL) – The newly appointed Special Assistant on New Media to Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, Rev. Richard Peters, has seen the new media space as a veritable platform to project the ARISE Agenda of the present administration in the state
Speaking to THEWILL shortly after receiving his appointment letter from the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, Peters expressed his readiness to explore the efficiency of the new media to ensure the realisation of the ARISE Agenda blueprint of his boss.
The cleric promised to pull all necessary strings to use his new platform and its wide reach to keep Akwa Ibom people at home and in the diaspora, informed on the activities of the governor to enable them to key in where necessary.
Revd. Peters, who was a media aide to the former governor, Udom Emmanuel, said: “Through the directive of my immediate boss, Mr Ekerete Udoh, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, we will focus on using the new media to project the bold initiatives of the Governor of Akwa Ibom state through the ARISE Agenda to the world.”
He opined that to fully deploy the potential of the New Media, many Akwa Ibom youth will also be trained to positively use the platform to market the enormous potentials that abound in the state to the outside world.
The cleric, however, advised youths against the negative usage of social media to de-market the state, stressing that investors and tourists only go to places with enabling environments in terms of peace and security.
“We call on good-spirited individuals to be intentional in joining the campaign to reposition the good image of Akwa Ibom state and post things that will promote peace and unity in the state.
“The era of negative publicity about the state, mudslinging and propaganda is over.
“Multinational companies and reputable organisations are scouting for peaceful environments to invest in, and Akwa Ibom is a destination for such organisations. This is our mandate: To spread good messages about the state to the world through the instrumentality of the new media, and together we will achieve this”, the aid stressed.
He expressed deep gratitude to the governor for his reappointment, pledging to contribute his best to make Akwa Ibom a destination of choice.
