February 17, (THEWILL) – Sokoto State All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate’s running-mate, Idris Muhammad Gobir, has assured people of Sokoto East of an end to insecurity bedevilling the zone if his party is elected.

Gobir stated this while addressing party supporters, who converged on Goronyo local government area of the state, for the ongoing gubernatorial campaign rally.

According to him, the eastern part of the state has suffered insecurity in the past few years, with no effort by the PDP-led government in the state to end the menace.

“Eastern zone is the worst hit in terms of insecurity, especially Banditry, with not a single commitment from the PDP led government in Sokoto to end it”, he said.

This insecurity, he added, has crippled agricultural and other economic activities the zone is known for.

According to him, over 80% of people in the eastern zone are peasant farmers, but have now abandoned their farmlands for the fear of being abducted.

This, he believed has resulted in a serious shortfall in food production in Sokoto and the country at large.

“We in the APC will guarantee the security of your lives and property if you give us that mandate”, he maintained.

Also speaking, Chairman, Sokoto State APC gubernatorial campaign council, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, assured the people of Goronyo of more people-oriented projects if APC is elected.

He expressed happiness over the turn out of party supporters in Goronyo local government, which he described as unprecedented.

The APC campaign train was also in the Kware local government area on the same mission.

The APC governorship candidate, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, while commending APC supporters for the large turnout, assured them of developmental projects if APC is given the mandate to govern the state.

During the two rallies, many PDP supporters who defected to APC were accepted into the party.
