December 18, (THEWILL) – At least two persons were injured in an early morning fire incident that occurred on Monday, at the Ogbomosho residence of the late former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala.
The Director of Operations, Oyo State Fire Service, Ismail Adeleke, who confirmed the incident, said the service got a distress call about 8.30 a.m. from one Tolu Ikusagba, Managing Director of Parrot101.1 FM, Ogbomoso of a fire incident at Alao-Akala‘s residence.
While the cause of the fire could not be immediately ascertained, Adeleke, however, said the fire had been put out, adding that two persons sustained injury.
However, an eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the fire incident was caused by a gas explosion.
The eyewitness said that the incident led to the death of one person, which was yet to be confirmed by the appropriate authority.
The eyewitness also said that the two people who sustained injury had been taken to the hospital for treatment.
