BEVERLY HILLS, April 19, (THEWILL) – No fewer than two police officers have been killed by unknown gunmen who attacked and razed Zone 13 Police headquarters in Ukpo, Anambra state and another, at Abia State.
Confirming the attack, the spokesperson of Zone 13 Police Command, Princess Nkiru Nwode, said the command successfully repelled the attack and also recovered some weapons from the fleeing assailants.”
However, a police signal sighted byDaily Trustconfirmed that the first attack was carried out at Zone 13 Headquarters Awka, while the other happened at Uzuakoli in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
THEWILL learnt that two police officers, Inspector Ishaku Aura and Constable Uzoma Uwaebuka, at Zone 13 Headquarters lost their lives in the attack carried out around 4am on Monday.
“Zone 13 Headquarters, Awka was attacked this morning by 0400hrs, men posted to CP quarters including CP himself was drafted to the scene immediately, when we reached there , unfortunately two of our 54 personnel lost their life. Namely: INSP. Ishaku Aura and PC. Uzoma Uwaebuka. May their souls rest in peace, meanwhile all men posted to any beat should be at extra red alert,” the signal read.
While no life was lost in the Abia State attack, many vehicles were set on fire.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
