BEVERLY HILLS, June 02, (THEWILL) – Twitter has deleted President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweet threatening to treat secessionist agitators in “the language they understand.”

THEWILL reports that Buhari had on Tuesday, after a security briefing on the attacks on facilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in the South-East, categorically threatened to deal with those who, according to him, wanted to destroy his government.

In the tweet shared on Tuesday, Buhari spoke about the Civil War experience and threatened to deal with those “bent on destroying” Nigeria through “insurrection.”

“Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand”, he tweeted.

Following the development, Nigerians on social media took to Twitter to drag the President for making such threats towards a particular tribe.

While some slammed him for pleading with Fulani herdsmen and bandits who had killed and were still killing innocent Nigerians, others slammed him for threatening the South-East with another Civil War that killed almost 3 million Igbos.

They also reported the tweet and also called for the suspension of the President’s account by the management of Twitter.

However, following the widespread condemnation of the tweet, THEWILL gathered that Twitter deleted the message on Wednesday.

The platform said the post violated its rules.

It is not immediately clear if the platform would take further action against the President.

He may be locked out of his account for 24 hours and faces a temporary suspension for the offensive tweet.
