September 14, (THEWILL) – Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Toyin Abraham, has announced veteran actor Pete Edochie as the first confirmed cast member of her upcoming film, ‘Bestie’.
Abraham revealed the casting on Monday, September 14, through her social media page, announcing that Edochie will play the role of Papa Ngozi.
“Pa Pete Edochie as Papa Ngozi in BESTIE! A legend, GOAT, is in the building!” she wrote.
The announcement marks the first major cast reveal for the film, with Abraham expected to introduce more members of the cast as the project’s promotional campaign continues.
Edochie is one of Nollywood’s most recognizable veteran actors, with a career spanning several decades. His addition to ‘Bestie’ brings another established name to Abraham’s latest cinema production.
The film is scheduled to hit cinemas nationwide on December 16, 2026, placing it among the major Nollywood releases expected during the festive season.

While details about the full plot are yet to be released, ‘Bestie’ has been promoted with the tagline, “Besties by choice, strangers by betrayal”. Abraham has also described the project as a different kind of story from some of her previous productions.
The December release will be Abraham’s latest cinema outing following the success of her 2025 film, ‘Oversabi Aunty’, which crossed the ₦1 billion mark at the Nigerian box office. The film added to her growing record of commercially successful cinema productions.
Abraham has built a strong presence in both film and television, with recent projects including ‘Ijakumo’, ‘Malaika’ and ‘Alakada: Bad and Boujee’.
Her return to cinemas with ‘Bestie’ comes as audiences prepare for another busy festive movie season.
For now, Edochie remains the first confirmed name in the cast, while further announcements are expected ahead of the film’s December release.
