Tinubu disclosed that he had personally telephoned the Osun governor to congratulate him on securing a fresh four-year mandate, noting that the victory reflected the confidence the people of the state have in his leadership.

“I called Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him,” the President said.

He wished Adeleke success in his second term and urged him to govern inclusively by bringing together supporters and opponents alike in pursuit of the state’s development.

“I wish him great success as he prepares to lead the state for the next four years. Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election,” Tinubu stated.

The President also commended the other governorship candidates for their conduct throughout the election, describing their participation as an important contribution to Nigeria’s democratic growth.

According to him, the election outcome reflected the wishes of the electorate and further reinforced public confidence in the country’s democratic system.

“I salute the courage and discipline displayed by other contestants in the election. Their participation deepened and enriched our country’s democratic culture. The outcome of the election reflects the will of the people and is a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our land,” he added.

Governor Adeleke of the Accord Party was returned for a second term after defeating his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Saturday’s governorship election. Following the collation of results from all 30 local government areas, INEC declared Adeleke winner after he polled the highest number of valid votes.

The Osun governorship election attracted nationwide attention as one of Nigeria’s most significant off-cycle elections, with political parties mounting vigorous campaigns and observers closely monitoring the conduct of the poll. Tinubu’s swift congratulatory message is expected to set the tone for post-election reconciliation and governance in the state.
