BEVERLY HILLS, October 05, (THEWILL) – English Premier League side Manchester United has completed the signing of Brazilian international left back Alex Telles for a fee in the region of £15.4 million from the Portuguese side Porto.
The 27-year-old Telles penned a four-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months. There was a price cut in his deal due largely to the fact that he had just one season left on his contract with Porto.
THEWILL notes that the resolution of the deal comes after weeks of reports and rumours linking Telles to a move to the Manchester club. The Red Devils had turned to him after moves to get Sergio Reguilon Rodriguez from Real Madrid fell through with United refusing to agree to Real’s terms.
The United fan base believes the signing will hopefully be the answer to United’s need for greater flair and attacking prowess from the full back position than what presently obtains. Telles comes with a record of creating an average of two chances per 90 minutes in the Primeira Liga since the start of last season and while he has scored 13 goals, he has successfully set up another 10. THEWILL sees that as a highlight to what he can offer this United side sorely lacking in that kind of service from the likes of Luke Shaw.

Some serious questions have been raised about this crop of Man U players especially after the dismal drubbing they received at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. While Telles will not completely erase all the problems that allowed for that result, THEWILL sees that his record, if it continues and improves, can bring some solidity to the team and help improve performance.
