BEVERLY HILLS, October 05, (THEWILL) – English Premiership club Arsenal have confirmed that France U21 midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has left the club to join the Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin on a one-year loan deal.
The Frenchman, who started his career in the Academy of French giants Paris Saint-Germain before his move to Lorient from where the North London club scouted and bought him, went straight into the first-team squad at Arsenal which is a feat of no small measure. THEWILL sees that as a recognition of his maturity and trust in his confidence and ability to follow through with his roles on the pitch.
He made 82 appearances for Arsenal but has largely been a peripheral figure at the Emirates since a feisty 2-1 loss to Brighton in June when he appeared to grab the throat of Brighton striker Neal Maupay. Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta expected the young Gunner to apologise for his conduct but the French international failed to do so. This led to his banishment from first team selection.
In his tweet announcing his move to the Bundesliga, Guendouzi referenced this lack of playing opportunity when he posted, “Excited to be back on the pitch and defend the colours of Hertha Berlin.”

THEWILL hopes he does so without a repeat of the grabbing incident.
