Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, conveyed the government’s position in a formal response to the communique issued after last week’s joint meeting of the NLC Central Working Committee (CWC) and National Executive Council (NEC).

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has rattled the Federal Government over what it described as a worsening survival crisis in the country, demanding an immediate reduction in petrol prices, a nationwide wage award and the commencement of negotiations for a new national minimum wage.

The demands were contained in a letter addressed to President Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, in which the council warned that the continued deterioration in workers’ purchasing power was creating palpable tension among workers and Nigerians.
