Two English Football clubs, Swansea and Aston Villa have fired their coaches over a run of disappointing performances in the 2016/17 season

Francesco Guidolin has been sacked by Swansea who have appointed an American, Bob Bradley, as its new manager.

Guidolin leaves the Liberty Stadium after less than nine months in the role while Bradley will be the first American to manage in the Premier League.

“We are delighted Bob has agreed to join us,” Huw Jenkins, Swansea Chairman, said in a statement on the club’s website.

“He is highly regarded as a coach and has a wealth of experience on the international and domestic front. He is well aware of the club’s footballing philosophy and will provide us with strong leadership qualities and a renewed belief to compete at this level.

“It is never easy changing managers, but we are looking at a long-term appointment and we are confident Bob can settle us down and stabilise matters on and off the pitch.

“We are obviously disappointed to part company with Francesco. We felt he deserved his opportunity after the work he did last season.

“Unfortunately we have not been able to carry performances over from last season and we felt we needed to change things as soon as possible in order to move forward in a positive way.”

In the same vein, Aston Villa has sacked Robberto Di Matteo, former Chelsea coach, after he recorded one win in 12 matches in charge of the team this season.

Di Matteo was brought in as the permanent successor to Remi Garde, four months ago, but the club said it had to let him go following a run of disappointing results which has the left the team occupying 19th position in the Championship.

“The Club would like to place on record its appreciation to Roberto for all his efforts in helping rebuild the squad and wish him well for the future,” the Club said on a a statement on the club’s website.
