Supreme Court Judgment: Jonathan Congratulates Tinubu, Says Elections Are Over

October 27, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu, on Friday, met with former President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Speaking with State House correspondents after meeting with the President, Jonathan, who said he was at the Villa to brief Tinubu on some of his recent foreign engagements and to discuss other issues affecting the country, added that the visit afforded him the opportunity to congratulate the President on his victory at the Supreme court.

THEWILL reports that a seven-member panel of Justices, led by Inyang Okoro, on Thursday, dismissed the two appeals filed by Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his counterpart in the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.

Jonathan called on all political leaders to eschew bitterness and work together in harmony for the country’s overall good.

“There are certain things we discussed that the country must move forward. Elections are over, we must move forward.

“Yes, we have challenges economically now, we still have all it takes to lead. These are some of the issues I will continue to have a conversation with Mr President, including briefing him on all my foreign programmes because they are not personal issues.

“Traditionally, if a former president goes outside the country for this continental, regional or international, they come home and tell the President. That is the tradition. Most of the time, when you see me here, it is because of this thing we must do to move Nigeria, ECOWAS, and the African continent forward,” he said.
