Super Falcons Beat Naija Ratels FC 2-1 In Friendly Ahead Of AWCON

June 24, (THEWILL) – In a friendly match before to the Total Energies 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON), the senior women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, defeated Naija Ratels Football Club 2-1.

The Falcons players displayed a good level of quality during the match on Thursday, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium’s training ground of Package A from as early as the 12th minute, when Francisca Ordega gave the ladies a deserved lead.

Ratels attempted to draw even, but failed to take advantage of the scoring opportunities that came their way in the early exchanges. Still, Bello Aminat squeezed in an equaliser for Naija Ratels in the 55th minute at the resumption of play in the second half.

There was no stopping the Super Falcons inching ahead with a second goal. Onome Ebi wrote her name in the scoresheet in the 62nd minute to confirm the victory.

No additional goals were scored before the final siren despite both teams’ best efforts. The Super Falcons will use the lessons from the friendly in their planning for the 2022 AWCON, which will be the 14th edition and take place from July 2 to July 23 in Morocco.
