March 29, (THEWILL) – On the day of their vital 2022 World Cup playoff against Ghana, the Super Eagles held their final training session at the M.K.O Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, with Arsenal icon, Nwankwo Kanu, in attendance.
The former African Footballer of the Year was at the stadium to show his support for the Super Eagles, greeting each player personally with a handshake as they made their way to the team van following the last training session.
Kanu played in three World Cups for Nigeria, in 1998, 2002, and 2010, and he trained with the team before their departure to the United States in 1994.
With the first leg concluding in a stalemate in Kumasi, everything will be resolved in Abuja on Tuesday, beginning at 6 pm local time.
Augustine Eguavoen, the team’s Technical Adviser, is aware that the Super Eagles must score in regulation time to have a chance of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.
To ensure that goals are scored today, the Super Eagles refined their shooting drills, with Kelechi Iheanacho scoring the first goal and Francis Uzoho making a handful of saves.
The Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper was the Super Eagles’ standout performer last Friday and is poised to start again this evening as Kanu urged the forwards to score early goals that can guarantee victory in the all-important fixture.
