June 03, (THEWILL) – Alarmed by the level of compliance and participation by workers on the first day of the indefinite nationwide strike by organised labour, the Federal Government has again, invited leaders of organised labour to a meeting.
The meeting, summoned by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4, by 10 am.
THEWILL reports that organised labour comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) commenced its indefinite nationwide industrial action on Monday, with total compliance across the country.
The strike followed the failure of negotiations over a new national minimum wage, as labour unions rejected the N60,000 offered as wages by the Federal Government and representatives of the Organised Private Sector (OPS).
