Senator Lamido Offers N50m Scholarship To 1,000 Sokoto Students

December 16, (THEWILL) – No fewer than 1,000 students of various higher institutions have benefited from the N50 million scholarship scheme in Sokoto State.

The scholarship was initiated by the Senator representing Sokoto East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Ibrahim Lamido.

Speaking during the disbursement to the beneficiaries in Sokoto, the state capital, Alhaji Muhammad Alaaro, who represented the Senator, said N50,000 cash would be given per student to support them in their education pursuit in their different higher schools.

He explained that the beneficiaries were carefully selected from across the eight local government areas of the Senatorial District of the State.

Muhammad, who doubled as the Chairman of Illela Local Government Area of the State and All Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), however, advised the students to make judicious use of the monies given to them.

He said the lawmaker has planned an additional fund for students who would be writing external examinations by procurement of JAMB forms for the students across the zone.

His words: “Senator Lamido has also constructed boreholes in all the eight local governments in the zone as part of efforts to give back to the electorates.

“On the issue of insecurity ravaging our zone, he has been engaging and supporting security agents in the zone in order to restore law and order back to our senatorial zone”

Also speaking, Comrade Dan’iya Bello, the Social Welfare Officer of the Sokoto State Students Union, commended the Senator for identifying with students.

He appealed to other notable persons, especially political office holders, to emulate the Senator by putting the interest of the masses at heart in whatever they do.

One of the beneficiaries, Hassana Ibrahim, while speaking with our correspondent, expressed joy for being among the beneficiaries, saying the fund will help her in the payment of her outstanding fees at the State College of Education.
