SAN FRANCISCO, January 10, (THEWILL) – The Senate on Tuesday rejected the nomination of an American-based professor, Akintunde Akinwande, for the chairmanship of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC.
This was as it confirmed the nomination of six members for the board of the NERC. They are Sanusi Garba (North-West) as vice-chairman; with Nathan Rogers Shatti (North-East), Moses Arigu (North-Central), Dafe Akpedeye (South-South), Frank Okafor (South-East) and Musiliu Oseni (South-West) as commissioners.
Akinwande’s nomination was turned down owing to his failure to show up at the screening by the Senate Committee on Power, Steel Development and Metallurgy.
The committee recommended that President Muhammadu Buhari should present another nominee to replace the professor.
