BEVERLY HILLS, February 14, (THEWILL) – Popular Barbadian singer, Rihanna Fenty, has frowned at the arresting of protesters at the #OccupyLekkiTollGate demonstration in Lagos.
Citizens had yesterday picketted the Lekki tollgate to protest the decision of the Lagos judicial panel granting approval to the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) to restore toll collection operations at the tollgate.
However, security operatives forcefully arrested protesters, quickly sparking outrage as social media, opinion moulders and civil society berated the government’s action.
Lending her weight to the citizen’s action, Rihanna stated that peaceful protest remained a human right.

“Peaceful protest is a human right!! #EndSARS,” she wrote at the weekend as she reacted to a post by Amnesty International Nigeria.
THEWILL reports that the protesters were eventually granted bail.
