July 07, (THEWILL) – Associates and supporters of Yoruba secessionist agitator, Sunday Igboho, on Wednesday, staged a peaceful protest along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and through the ancient city to condemn the recent raid on his residence by officers of the Department of State Security Services (DSS).

The protesters, who marched in peaceful order Wednesday to express their grievances, also demanded the release of his relations, friends and associates arrested during the raid.

They moved in a row from the Soka end of the expressway, creating heavy vehicular movement along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for several minutes.

They later moved to major streets and areas, including Challenge and Molete in Ibadan, demanding the release of the arrested persons.

The protesters later converged at the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, to solicit his support for their cause.

THEWILL reports that Igboho’s associates and his wife were arrested, last Thursday when his residence, located at Soka area in Ibadan, was invaded by a combined team of the Department of State Service (DSS), Nigerian Army and police.

The service confirmed the arrest of 13 persons.
