January 20 (THEWILL) – Prince Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary series has become the streaming platform’s biggest documentary debut.

“Harry & Meghan racked up 81.55 million viewing hours globally within its first four days of release,” Netflix reveals.

“That marks the highest view hours of any documentary series in a premiere week,” the streaming giant said in a press release outlining its top-performing shows for the week ending December 11.

The first three episodes of the highly anticipated six-part show were released on December 8, with the final three instalments to follow on Thursday.

Reporting its fourth-quarter earnings, Netflix revealed it had gained 7.7 million subscribers during the October-December period, which included the debut of an ad-supported option of $7 per month.

Both Buckingham and Kensington Palace have remained silent over the allegations in the documentary series, which included Harry saying that the Prince of Wales left him terrified after screaming and shouting at him during the Sandringham summit.

The duke, 38, claimed that Kensington Palace lied to protect his brother when it issued a statement denying a story William had bullied him out of the Royal Family.

The news comes as Harry’s memoir becomes the most fastest-selling non-fiction book in the UK since the record began in 1988.
