Police Arrest Eight Suspects Over Brutal Killing Of UNIMAID Lecturer

April 4, (THEWILL)- The Borno State Police Command, on Thursday, said it has arrested a total of 8 suspects in connection with the brutal murder of University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) Lecturer, who was killed last Monday.

The Police identified negligence of the University’s internal security operatives, pointing out that “there are negligible errors which were drawn by the security men.”

The Spokesman of the Police in Borno State, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, revealed during a press conference, which was held at the Command Headquarters, in Maiduguri, that the 8 suspects are in police custody while a “discreet investigation” is ongoing.

In his words: “Eight suspects have been arrested while the case is still under discreet investigation.”

ASP Daso explained that “On the 1st April, 2024, at about 0630 HRS, the Chief Security Officer of the University Of Maiduguri reported to Gwange Police Station that on the same date, at about 0530 HRS, they discovered one Dr Kamal Abdulkadir, a lecturer of Department of Physical and Health Education, University of Maiduguri, lying on his pool of blood, on receipt of the report, police detectives of Gwange police station and forensic experts from State Criminal Investigation Department visited the crime scene and found the victim lying dead with multiple stab wounds and injuries on the body.

“The victim’s mobile phone and vehicle one Honda Pilot with Reg NO. NGU232XG YOBE Golden Colour was carted away by the criminals; the body was taken to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital Maiduguri for autopsy.”

The Police spokesman, however, stated that the Command had secured a court order to detain the local security operatives of UNIMAID and said that the public would be further briefed on the completion of the investigation.
