BEVERLY HILLS, July 27, (THEWILL) – Tennis star Naomi Osaka has berated critics who criticized her over her recent photoshoot in a swimsuit.
THEWILL recalls that photos of the two-time Grand Slam champion in a swimsuit generated criticisms from some of her followers on social media, who would rather have her maintain her innocent image.
But the Japanese reacted to her critics via her Twitter handle. The 22-year-old tennis star lashed out at all those who asked her to maintain her “innocent image” and “don’t try to be someone you are not”.
“I just wanna say it’s creeping me out how many people are commenting @ me to maintain my “innocent image” and “don’t try to be someone your (sic) not,” Osaka tweeted.
“You don’t know me, I’m 22, I wear swimsuits to the pool. Why do you feel like you can comment on what I can wear?”
Osaka is the highest paid female athlete in the world, after topping veteran tennis star, Serena Williams.
