May 29, (THEWILL) – In accordance with the constitution and as required by the Imo State Autonomous Communities & Chieftaincy Law 2006, the people of Okwuabala Autonomous Community have presented their Eze-elect to the Sole Administrator of Orlu Local Government Area, Pastor Chris Mbarie.
The Eze-elect, Prof. Anthony Odera Unamma, a Catholic Church Knight of St. John’s International (KSJI), hails from Umundum, Okwuabala, in the Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State.
According to findings, the Ezeship of Okwuabala is neither hereditary nor amorphous, rather, it is rigidly guided by her construction, which vividly makes provision for rotational Ezeship.
Former traditional ruler of the community, His Royal Highness, Late Eze (Engr) Richard A. Obioha, hailed from Umuezikeodu, Okwuabala. Following his demise, the Ezeship shifts to another village in order to avoid the perpetuation of the power of Ezeship in one village as they translate into hereditary features.
Presenting Prof Unamma to the Sole Administrator of Orlu LGA, Pastor Chris Mbarie, at the Council’s Headquarters on Friday, May 26, 2023, the people of Okwuabala described their Eze-elect as a humble, peaceful and God-fearing man in whom they have confidence.
The Sole Administrator, while receiving the Eze-elect, assured the people that their expectations shall come to pass.
Mbarie charged them to remain united and peaceful and embrace activities that would continue to promote the peace Okwuabala Autonomous Community had been known for.
Those present at the presentation ceremony include the younger brother to the Eze-elect, Chief Olemgbe Unamma, the Orlu LGA Director of Administration and General Services (DAGS), Mr Nduka Stanley, Chief Elijah Uzomba, President-General, Umundum Development Union and a Lagos-based businessman, Mr. Oliver Ohanuka and Mr Longinus Aboshi.
Others include Chief Mrs Ifeyinya Ajaero, Chief Nduka Okafor, Mr Anthony Ibeakaeme and the Chairman, Orlu LGA Council of Ndi Nze, Longinus Okorie and other title holders from the community.
