The Discrimination Against Persons With Disabilities Prohibition Act, in a brief insight, provides that a person with disability shall not be discriminated against on the grounds of his or her disability by any person or institution in any manner of circumstance.
“Under the Act, disabled people should be treated equally and protected from discrimination. This applies in many situations such as education, employment, the exercise of public functions, goods, services, facilities and transport, healthcare and public service.”
He added that the Act is also geared “to eliminate unfair treatment and unlawful discrimination against disabled people, the need to eradicate disability-related harassment of disabled people, improving equality of opportunity for disabled persons.
“The Act, he stated, provides many benefits: persons with disabilities shall have an unfettered right to education, right without discrimination or segregation in any form, entitled to free education from primary to secondary school levels, provided with educational assistance devices.
“Prada Uzodimma, who has always led by example, following her passion to effect positive change, has through her @tali_foundation, used technology, embarked on impactful educational outreaches and training sessions at Government Secondary School, Kuje, where she introduced students and teachers to Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC), Software and Adaptive Learning Materials.
“Equipping students with AAC Software Infused Tablets, thereby bridging the gap for students with learning disabilities such as cerebral palsy.”
