Okuama Killings: Burial Of Slain Officers, Soldiers Hold Wednesday In Abuja

March 26, (THEWILL)- The Burial Ceremony of the Nigerian Army Personnel killed-in-action at Okuama Community, Delta State, has been scheduled for Wednesday, March 27, at the National Cemetery, Abuja.

THEWILL gathered that the event, scheduled for 3:00 pm, will host the President, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu, as Special Guest of Honour.

President Tinubu had pledged a dignified burial, as well as posthumous national honours for the deceased military personnel.

THEWILL had reported that 16 military personnel including four officers and 12 soldiers, were killed in Okuama community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Military authorities earlier said they were killed while on a mission to maintain peace between two warring communities of Okuama and Okoloba.

Previous statements by military authorities indicated that 16 soldiers were killed, but the army released the names and pictures of 17 slain soldiers.

The identity of the deceased officers includes Lt. Col. AH Ali (Commanding Officer, 181 Amphibious Battalion); Major SD Shafa; Major DE Obi; Capt. U Zakari, and Sgt. Yahaya Saidu.

Others included Cpl Yahaya Danbaba; Cpl Kabir Bashir; LCpl Bulus Haruna; LCpl Sole Opeyemi; LCpl Bello Anas; LCpl Hamman Peter; LCpl Ibrahim Abdullahi; Pte Alhaji Isah; Pte Clement Francis; Pte Abubakar Ali; Pte Ibrahim Adamu, and Pte Adamu Ibrahim.
