October 10, (THEWILL) – Events and Sponsorship Officer, Sterling Bank, Chidinma Okoli and the Brand Manager, Star Radler, Chiamaka Efulu, have been chosen as judges for the Lagos Cocktail Week.

Others named on the judges panel are Brand Manager, Absolut Vodka, the Bayo Adeyemo and Diageo Ambassador, Berg Baboyan.

The judges were announced during a press conference recently held at The Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi, Lagos.

At the briefing, the founder of the Lagos Cocktail Week, Lara Rawa, said this year’s event has been themed, ‘Diversification of Income, Identification of Opportunities and Access to Finance.’

She said that the inspiration behind the theme is e out of the need to educate members of the public who have scaled a difficult hurdle as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Lagos Cocktail Week team and its partners are exploiting the importance of the inter-relationship between art and innovation. Specifically, in its seventh edition, emphasis is on the roles of networking and the social media in driving growth.

One of its partners, Diageo, a renowned liquor brand, will be providing a masterclass as a symbol of its commitment to the industry and stakeholders.

The brand ambassador for Diageo, Berg Baboyan commented on the importance of the visibility and the opportunity that Lagos Cocktail Week is creating.

He said, “We support Lagos Cocktail Week every year because it is a great opportunity to truly connect with stakeholders”.

Rawa spoke extensively about the entertainment value, which the event has to offer, starting with the popular cocktail village and the bar battle.

According to her, the Cocktail Village will hold after the Lagos Cocktail Week Conference, adding that a variety of liquor brands would be present at the Cocktail Village between October 15 and 16, including Fayrouz, Star Radler, Desperados, Johnnie Walker, Gordon’s Dry Gin, Mcdowells, Jameson, Olmeca, and Absolut.

“The bar battle is the highlight of the Lagos Cocktail Week. The seventh edition of the event will differ from the previous ones. Previously, the bar battle consisted of only bartenders from restaurants around Lagos. This year, for the purpose of inclusivity, participants can be independent mixologists. The purpose of the change is to promote inclusivity and to create an opportunity and platform for promotion and growth as highlighted in the event’s theme,” she said.

Furthermore, there will be three challenges this year and three winners for each challenge. The three challenges include The Johnnie Walker Challenge, Absolut Challenge, and Beer Challenge (Star Radler).

An exciting raffle draw was held during the press conference to determine what challenges the mixologists will participate in.
