October 08, (THEWILL) – Cristiano Ronaldo has taken another swipe at Simon Jordan after the former Crystal Palace owner questioned the Portugal captain’s conduct during his explosive fallout with head coach Jorge Jesus.

The latest exchange emerged after British broadcaster Piers Morgan, a close friend of Ronaldo, clashed with Jordan during a talkSPORT debate over the 41-year-old’s decision to leave Portugal’s training camp. Morgan later revealed that Ronaldo had seen the discussion and sent him a private message about Jordan’s appearance and comments.

The controversy surrounding Ronaldo has intensified since he walked out of Portugal’s camp before the Nations League meeting with Denmark. The Al Nassr forward subsequently published a lengthy statement explaining his version of events, accusing Jesus of breaking agreements over his involvement in the team and insisting that his decision to leave was not prompted simply by a desire for more playing time.

Jordan had challenged Morgan over his unwavering defence of Ronaldo, questioning whether the Portuguese superstar himself could sometimes be responsible for the disputes that have followed him during the latter stages of his career.

During the heated exchange, Jordan asked whether there was a possibility that Ronaldo’s behaviour could be the “common denominator” in some of his previous fallouts.

Morgan strongly rejected the suggestion and continued to defend the Portugal captain, arguing that Ronaldo had every right to object when he believed agreements had not been honoured.

After the programme, Morgan said he sent Ronaldo a clip of his confrontation with Jordan. According to Morgan, the footballer replied with a mocking message about Jordan’s appearance, describing him as “that blonde guy” before making a joke about his use of Botox.

Morgan then shared the exchange on his Football Uncensored programme, where he and Jason Cundy discussed the latest development in the increasingly public dispute.

The remark added another layer to an argument that has moved well beyond Ronaldo’s original disagreement with Jesus and has now drawn in prominent broadcasters and pundits on both sides.

Jordan Questions Ronaldo’s Role In Repeated Disputes

Jordan’s criticism was not limited to Ronaldo’s latest confrontation with Jesus.

The former Crystal Palace chairman pointed to the Portuguese forward’s previous high-profile disputes, including his turbulent final period at Manchester United, and questioned whether Ronaldo’s status as one of football’s biggest stars sometimes makes it difficult for those around him to challenge his behaviour.

Morgan, however, took the opposite position.

The broadcaster argued that Ronaldo was approaching the end of his career and had become increasingly conscious of how his final years with Portugal would shape his legacy. He maintained that the forward deserved respect and that standing up for himself did not necessarily mean he had acted wrongly.

The disagreement reflects the wider split in opinion surrounding Ronaldo’s latest Portugal controversy, with some supporters backing the veteran forward while others believe his decision to leave the camp was unnecessary. The Portuguese media has also been divided over the incident, which has become one of the biggest stories surrounding the national team.

What Sparked Ronaldo’s Fallout With Jorge Jesus?

Jorge Jesus and RonaldoThe dispute began after Jesus altered Ronaldo’s expected involvement during Portugal’s Nations League fixtures.

According to Ronaldo’s account, the coach had initially presented a plan for managing his minutes, including an arrangement under which he would not travel for the Norway and Denmark matches. Ronaldo said he rejected the proposal because he believed remaining captain while staying behind would set the wrong example.

The situation changed on the day of Portugal’s match against Norway.

Ronaldo said Jesus’ assistant asked whether he was fit enough to play 30 minutes, despite the forward believing that he was being rested for the match. He agreed to the request and subsequently warmed up from half-time, only to remain on the bench for the entire 2-1 victory.

Ronaldo described the decision as a breach of trust, saying Jesus had “broken his word” to him. He later claimed that an agreement was reached for the coach to clarify the situation publicly, supported by an eight-point document that Ronaldo said he had personally validated.

Jesus has disputed aspects of Ronaldo’s account. Earlier, the Portugal manager insisted that the rules applied equally to every player and maintained that no individual, including Ronaldo, would determine his tactical decisions.

Despite leaving the camp, Ronaldo has made it clear that he does not consider his international career over.

In his statement, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner accepted that his actions could result in disciplinary punishment and apologised to Portugal’s supporters and his teammates for leaving the squad.

However, he also insisted that he would remain available for selection once any punishment had been served, provided he remained fit and performing for Al Nassr.

That leaves the door open for Ronaldo to return to the Portugal squad when the Nations League resumes in November, although his relationship with Jesus remains the major question.

Jesus has also left the possibility of Ronaldo returning open, meaning the next international window could provide another chapter in a saga that has already moved from a disagreement over playing time to a much wider debate about authority, respect and Ronaldo’s place in Portugal’s final phase of his career.

For now, though, the argument has taken another turn — with Simon Jordan, Piers Morgan and Ronaldo himself becoming the latest figures caught in the fallout.
