July 19, (THEWILL) – The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the last general election, Peter Obi, on Wednesday, visited Governor Caleb Mutfwang to commiserate with him on the killings by bandits in Mangu Local Government Area and other parts of Plateau State and also marked his birthday at the IDPs camp in Mangu where he donated palliatives of fifty bags of rice and five million naira cash.
Received at the Government House, Jos by Governor Mutfwang, his Deputy, Josephine Piyo, and other government officials, Obi described the savage activities and bloody campaigns of the bandits in parts of Plateau State as “senseless and disturbing,” saying that every Nigerian should be living in the country in peace and feel protected.
Obi, who said killing over 300 souls in cold blood in less than two weeks is horrendous and heart-rending, called on well-meaning Nigerians to rally support for Plateau State, as well as rise in strong condemnation of the killing of innocent lives and destruction of farms and food crops.
Accompanied by the Head of Evangelical Bible Ministries International, EBOMI, Prophet Isa El Buba, and other LP bigwigs, Peter Obi proceeded from the Government House to Mangu, where he was able to meet with Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) in their Mangu township camp, and encouraged them to remain strong and committed to a peaceful Plateau State and Nigeria.
Governor Mutfwang, who expressed gratitude to Peter Obi for the visit and wished him a historic birthday on behalf of the Plateau people, also noted that “as a fellow politician, I have had the privilege of witnessing your dedication and commitment to public service. Your tireless efforts in championing the interests of our constituents and striving for positive change have not gone unnoticed. Your leadership qualities, wisdom, and passion have inspired many within and outside of the country in the pursuit of goals with determination and integrity.”
